Stover nuts are also known as automation lock nuts or stover lock nuts. Stover lock nuts are one piece, all-metal (stainless stovers are available) prevailing torque hex nuts with a conical top and a flat bottom bearing surface with chamfered corners. They take much less vertical space than nylock nuts or even normal nuts.
The Stover Nut is a hex all-metal prevailing torque self-locking nut, made to DIN 980V standard. These locknuts are vibration resistant self-locking nuts, which are resistant to shocks, vibration and dynamic loads – and they can be reused a number of times.
The locking action, created by distortion of their top threads, is said to be capable of withstanding severe vibration and shock loads.
