A version known as Security Torx, Tamper-Resistant Torx (often shortened to Torx TR) or pin-in Torx contains a post in the center of the head that prevents a standard Torx driver (or a straight screwdriver) from being inserted.
For example the Pin TX (shown here) or Pin HX security screws, feature a standard torx and socket drive respectively, but with a pin in the centre, which prevents standard tools from working with them, so special security tools are needed to fasten and unfasten them.
People use security torx To deter someone from easy removal of the fastener. Usually it is a small round boss in the center of the Torx, hex, or other drive. A common kit of tools won't have drivers with a matching recess to clear that circular boss, so the driver can't connect with the screw until you find the right key.
