If the axle nut staking point is not EXACTLY lined up with the notch in the end of the axle shaft - even if it's off by a millimeter or two - then that probably means that the axle nut is starting to come loose, and should be replaced.

Replace circlips, axle nuts and other fastening hardware where applicable. Do not use grease, anti-seize compound or other lubricants when mating the CV axle shaft to the wheel hub assembly.
