Hexagon / 12 point flange bolt is a fastener composed of hexagon head / 12 point head, flange plate and screw.
Performance grade of flange bolts for steel structure connection is 3.6, 4.6, 4.8, 5.6, 6.8, 8.8, 9.8, 10.9, 12.9, etc, among which 8.8 and above bolts are made of low-carbon alloy steel or medium carbon steel and heat treated (quenched and tempered), generally known as high-strength bolts, and the rest are generally known as ordinary bolts.
Ordinary bolt heads are very thick and difficult to deform. If vibration occurs after fitting, they need to be tightened again; With a thin part of the flange, it can be slightly deformed and locked more firmly. In addition, if you go up to the hole, ordinary bolts can't use tools. The head of flange bolts is smaller, and the lower flange plate also plays a fastening role, but you can use special tools to go up to the hole, which is about the same principle as hexagon socket bolts. Another is that the flange is used as flat gasket, which is safer on soft and non wear-resistant materials and will not cause perforation.
